This Evil Place

The more I look at things, the more my heart breaks.

I was reading this article today and it isn’t anything that I haven’t seen before. We all know inside of us that America is wasteful and has almost no regard for the well being of the planet as a whole. We emit thousands more metric tons of carbon monoxide than every other country in the world (See this graphic showing the US compared to the other top emitters and some countries that we should model ourselves after, graphic provided by the World Resource Institute).

I hate to think what may become of our planet, what may become of our future and our children’s future. It makes me SICK to read things like this, people are so content with their lives that they would throw away the future for our children. It seems to me that people do not want to realize the problem, especially Americans. Quite frankly I am convinced that a large amount of us think that ignorance is bliss, and to recognize that humans are greatly at fault for the demise of this planet would require them to take responsibility in their everyday actions.

All of the skeptics will argue that the planet earth runs its own cycles. I will say to you, never before has another life form caused it to happen. I believe that God created this planet and all things on it have been made of it, which is to say that we are “of” this world. We are this planets cycle at this time, but our unique way of destroying this planet could very well destroy it for all inhabitance. Poison in the rivers, pollution in our lakes. We all have a part to play in this; we are not as ignorant as we pretend to be. I will be the first to admit that I need to do more; my actions constantly pollute this planet. Though I hope that I and the rest of the world would clean up our acts, I know better. This evil place will come to an end. The beauty and glory of God will be restored, and this planet will overcome the evil that has engulfed it. Man has fallen, and the world also fell. We are a fallen race removed from Gods glory, but Jesus has sacrificed his life so we would also be restored. I pray brothers and sisters that our children and our grandchildren will see better days, I pray for all to have peace in their lives!
