We traveled up I35 toward the north shore, but of course what drive up north would
be complete without stopping in Duluth? It was a little cloudy so the pictures where a little dark but here we are at the big rest stop along the way, beautiful overview of Duluth! We continued north on our trip, our destination… Beaver Bay!
Ah yes, Beaver Bay. A beautiful spot on northern Lake Superior, very small town. All in all it took about
3 hours to drive there, but it was worth the trip. Here is where we stayed, a nice place called Cove Point Lodge. Our favorit
e place by far on our trip was Iona’s Beach! A natural preserve, thanks to the DNR and the wise choice by Iona to sell it to the DNR; and the fact that her kids didn’t want it. It is a long story, but I will tell you this much: Iona and her husband owned a resort on Lake Superior, the beach was made up of red stones that formed through hundreds of thousands of years of Lake Superior bashing against cliffs or red stone.

It was so beautiful, the rocks themselves sat above the lake about a foot or so.
That meant when you where standing close to the water, every time a wave hit you could feel the rocks moving just a little. The sound of it was so great!Around Iona’s Beach there where other smaller beaches, all made of rocks and stone. This one was particularly beautiful, the waves where coming in, and the water was so clear!
We went other places too, like the Split Rock Lighthouse. I am not even going to show you pictures of the lighthouse that you’ve probably seen a million times. So I will just show you some of the cliffs and oth
